The first tourist facility of scientific and amusement kind created by the Delta Association was the Bałtów Tourist Complex. It was in Bałtów that the first theme park in Poland dedicated to dinosaurs was created.
Its opening was connected with the dinosaur tracks discovered in Bałtów. These findings are part of the history of the search for traces left by “terrible lizards” in Poland, especially in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. In 2001, Gerard Gierliński, persuaded by one of the greatest Polish geologists, Professor Zbigniew Kotański, decided to check the source of a folk legend in the late Jurassic rocks of the Świętokrzyskie region. The place that intrigued Prof. Kotański was the so-called Czarcia Stopka in Bałtów – a trace of a large predatory dinosaur – allosaurus. According to the legend, this trail, partially obliterated by erosion, was to be left by the devil trying to jump over the Kamienna River valley. However, the legendary footprint in Bałtów was strange because it was preserved in rocks of marine origin, not land-based. In the same year two more traces were found – a stegosaurus and a small predator, a compsognate – which unequivocally confirmed the presence of dinosaur traces in this area. Soon, in the national and scientific press, information about the discovery of Upper Jurassic dinosaur tracks appeared.
These discoveries also aroused interest in the local community. For the Delta Association and the Association for the Development of the Bałtów Commune “Bałt”, the dinosaurs have become a unique opportunity. One wondered how to illustrate the Bałtów finds in order to attract tourists. In the first version, models of giant reptiles were to be placed in places where the scientists discovered their authentic traces. At that time, no one thought that the construction of the first park in Poland would start, the main attraction of which would be the reconstruction of life-sized dinosaurs, both the Świętokrzyskie ones and their cousins from all over the world. Thanks to the ingenuity, work and energy of many people, the construction of “Bałtów Jurassic Park” started. It opened on 7 August 2004 and since then it has become a showcase of the Świętokrzyskie Region attracting crowds of tourists from all over Poland. Currently, the Bałtów Tourist Complex covers an area of over 60 ha and is the largest entertainment facility in Poland.
After the tourist success of the Bałtów, the Delta Association opened the JuraPark in Solec Kujawski near Bydgoszcz. In 2010 the JuraPark in Krasiejów near Opole was opened and in 2015 the first foreign facility – “Paleosafarii Moab Giants”. (US – Utah State) was opened.
In 2020 the facility started to be managed by DLF INVEST, which will in particular enable further development and investment in our park.
