JuraPark Krasiejów is a unique place full of exciting surprises. And meeting with dinosaurs is just the beginning of a great adventure!
The park is located in a picturesque area, surrounded by forests, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
It was created on an area degraded by the industry, which was exploited by a mine and cement plant years ago. Scientists made a breakthrough discovery here when they found traces of prehistoric reptiles and amphibians living 230 million years ago, including the oldest ancestor of the dinosaurs Silesaurus opolensis (a Silesian lizard from Opole). The state of preservation of the specimens, their number and diversity allowed for the start of research works, which continue to this day and which have made the Krasiejów region a “Mecca for paleontologists”. In the layers of about 230 million years ago fossils of organisms living in both aquatic and terrestrial environments were discovered. The fossil deposits of Triassic amphibians and reptiles are among the richest in Europe.
The tour begins with a visit to one of the world’s longest 3D cinemas – the Time Tunnel, where we learn about the birth of our planet Earth. Then, we wait for a walk along a didactic path with almost 250 life-sized representatives of the world of dinosaurs, with which we can literally stand eye to eye. On the way you can also see the Paleontological Pavilion, which is one of the few places in the world where you can walk on a glass surface over a palaeontological site. During the summer season, research is carried out on the premises of the documentation site. In the Prehistoric Oceanarium a huge dose of excitement awaits you during your encounter with prehistoric marine reptiles – everything takes place in the depths of three dimensions. A visit to Krasiejów is not only a sightseeing tour, but also an opportunity to have carefree fun on playgrounds, in an amusement park – with slides, carousels, or one of the largest obstacle courses in Poland.
